A blog star that is. Jess over at Polka Dots, Pearls, and Pink...OH MY! was kind enough to nominate me for the Versatile Blogger award. Really, I'm honored. I'd like to thank my mom and dad for giving me a place on this earth and teaching me right from wrong. I'd like to thank Wes for the love and support he shows while I study and perfect the art of blogging. I'd like to thank my readers for standing by me and giving me the love and guidance that is necessary to make it in this tough, tough blogger's world. And lastly, I'd like to thank my many subjects, but mostly my darling Colin, for providing me ample material to ramble on about discuss.
What? Do you not give acceptance speeches when you win an award? This is not that kind of award? Well at least I have my speech ready for when Oprah decides to put me on her show because of my blog.
I'm supposed to share 7 things about myself and then pass this award on to 7 other lovely bloggers. So without further ado, here are 7 things that you may or may not have known about me.
1) I am a germaphob. There I said it. I wash my hands literally 20 times a day and therefore have cracked knuckles from the incredible dryness of my hands. I have to wash my hands before I eat, touch my eyes/nose/mouth, and after I come home from any errand. Everything is dirty, trust me! Now that Colin is going to the potty, public restrooms have presented a whole other challenge for me. So far I've been making him hold onto my leg so he won't touch anything. I've also been letting Wes take him so I won't have to see it.
2) I have little to no patience. I expect things to be done now and not 1 second later. If I wanted it done then, I would have asked you 5 minutes from now. Being a procrastinator, Wes has real issues with this one.
3) I went away to college after high school (Miami University in OH) and was so incredibly homesick, I returned to UK after just 1 semester. While part of me wishes I would have stayed and toughed it out, I'm also very glad I returned because I met the love of my life that next year!
4) Wes and I dated for 4 1/2 years before he finally popped the question. In his defense, we were in undergrad 3 of those years. His dad is the one who finally told him if he didn't want to lose me, he better ask me to marry him. So we've been together for 13 years now! Wow, most marriages don't last that long.
5) I love the beach and outdoor activities but I have a very low tolerance to the heat. I have a very pale complexion with blue eyes and I read somewhere recently that blue-eyed people were more sensitive to the sun. I also don't tan very much and therefore find it a waste to even attempt to lay out - not to mention the cancer threats.
6) I played on our girls basketball team in 7th grade. I think I only made the team because my older sister was one of the stars and my dad was a coach at a local high school. The only time I ever shot the ball was at the other team's basket. That was my last year playing.
7) I am a reality tv junkie. While I've sworn off the Bachelorette for this season, I still partake in So You Think You Can Dance, Design Star, the Next Food Network Star, Project Runway, Nine by Design, America's Next Top Model, and many more. Of course those are all if I remember what time they come on and if Wes has lovingly set a series recording on the dvr for me.
Now on to you! I'd love to hear/read 7 interesting tidbits about you. I'm just going to nominate anyone who wants to participate. If you do, leave me a comment so I can read your list!
haha I loved the acceptance speech, however, you DID forget to thank all "the little people" I wish I were strong enough to swear off the Bachelorette, I wasn't even an Ali fan when she was on The Bachelor. MC and I will be dating 4 years this July 4th, I am thinking....I've paid my dating dues! haha. WHat was the foog blog you follow and blog about sometimes? Seems like it is Annie (something?) Or did I just make that up??
ReplyDeleteI wish you were on awards shows!!!
ReplyDeleteI am accepting your challenge but right here and now (and I'm basing my 7 facts off of your 7!!):
1. I am also a germaphob but not to the degree that you are. I wipe down every shopping cart I use with Clorox wipes I keep in my car. The pool bathroom is the ickiest to me b/c it's all wet in there - YUCK!
2. I have a quick temper. Sam has learned to ask me things via email because I can get mad initially & then think about it and decide I really don't care.
3. I skipped a grade & was only 17 when I went off to college ... right down the road. My parents said I could transfer after a year if I wanted to. At that point I had made too many friends to leave & had already met the love of my life my freshman year!
4. Sam and I dated off & on for 2.5 years before he proposed. We've been together for 10.5 years now and we were friends for a year before that!
5. I love the beach and the pool (but not necessarily outdoor activities) but I am ALSO heat sensitive! We are the same - fair, blue eyes, blonde hair. I flush rapidly and yet, I still love NC in summer.
6. I was a cheerleader for one girl's season of basketball. But only because I didn't have to try out. And because there were only 4 girls on the squad and they needed another one!
7. I am a TV junkie! Of the shows you mentioned I watch the Bachelorette (I don't love Ali but I watch it with my neighbor lady friends), SYTYCD, Design Star, Next Food Network Star & Project Runway. I had to give up ANTM b/c Tyra is so self-centered & the challenges started getting crazy.
Tidbit 8 ... I cannot resist a good quiz ... esp one where I get to talk about myself!
Haha! Love the acceptance speech. Much better than the boring one's people give at the Oscars! :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! congrats on being together 13 years--i didn't realize you all were college sweethearts
ReplyDeleteHahaha!!! Love your acceptance speech Danielle! Too funny! ;)
ReplyDeleteI've never watched a Bachelor or Bachelorette before but this season I am totally in to The Bachelorette!!!!!! It's quite addicting! And I never miss an episode of SYTYCD!! Who's your fave this season??? So far mine is Lauren. :)
I should have posted where you can buy it! Duh!! They have it at Ulta for sure...I'm not sure where else but you can also buy it online. Give it a try!!! It's very brown and won't look orange at all. :)
