Back to the Real World

Well reality has set in.  I'm no longer a stay-at-home mom.  There are bills to be paid, mouths to feed, and most importantly, sanity to be kept!  Today is my first day back to work after a wonderful 8-week hiatus.  Sure there have been some trying days - and boy were they trying - but I'm going to miss seeing my little peanuts all day.  I do require structure and I thrive on routine (both things I've learned about myself after having children), so there's a big part of me that's ready to get back into the swing of things.  Don't get me wrong, I've loved those do-nothing-days and being able to run around at my leisure, but I also know myself well enough to know I'd get tired of that.  I'd find way too many projects to do around the house, which would in turn drive me crazy because I couldn't get them all done.  There's something to be said for the saying, "out of sight, out of mind!"  I need that separation to stay sane and to keep those around me from leaving me!

I sure am going to miss these little cuties though.  But I'll just be that much more excited to see them when I get home!

  3. Best of luck on your first day back - I know how that goes! I remember being on maternity leave and feeling so frustrated about all of the projects around the house that needed to be done. It was definitely time to head back! Plus, when I started quoting Oprah, that was a sure sign it was time. :)

  5. Totally here you sister! I love the idea of staying home, but I too thrive on routines. Not sure if my marriage would survive if I stayed home, haha! Not going to lie- it's still a struggle at times hoping I made the right decision, but I think it works best for our family. Hope you had a good first day back.

  8. What a cute blog and cute boys!! I can't wait to hear how you juggle mommyhood w/ work. Most women I know who do both really enjoy it for sanity reasons.
