Playdate with a new friend

When I think of raising little boys, I think of a slew of boys playing a game of baseball in the backyard, or watching out the window as the posse rides their bikes for hours, or having a houseful of hungry mouths to feed at dinnertime, or even piles of dirty clothes filling my laudry room.  Whatever the image, I imagine a lot of activity, a lot of other kids, and a lot of fun times to be made.  It makes me smile.

After seeing Colin play his little heart out at various birthday parties this summer, I decided it was time to start the playdates.  It's really a win-win for all parties involved.  The kids get to have fun and the parents get to reap the rewards of a worn out, nap taking child!

This weekend Colin got to play with one of my friend's little boy, Silas.  The boys hit it off instantly and ran through every square inch of our house.  They may have only played with each thing for 30 seconds but I think it's safe to say they tried everything at least once.  I was able to get a walk/run in with Sawyer and Wes was able to get some work done with the boys occupied each other.  I think the boys had a lot of fun too.

First, the homemade bubbles I attempted to make.  Didn't go so well but they still had fun playing in the water.

Then the sidewalk chalk.  Every kid likes to draw and use chalk, right?

What?  You don't store your chalk in rain boots?  Well then you're wasting precious space!

These boots quickly became the object of their affection.

But only one foot fits the magic slipper!

Until later when he decided it'd be just as cool to rock 2 boots.

So there you have it, a recipe for an afternoon of fun for 2 little boys - a play skillet full of ghetto bubbles, a bunch of sidewalk chalk, and a pair of rain boots.  Sounds like fun to me!

  1. GREAT pictures, I desperately want a nice camera!!! I'm still using the point and shoot small one and even though it's nice to just throw in your purse, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get a camera that takes better quality pictures.

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. It's getting easier and easier to put little miss to bed, thank goodness! Hope all is well! Looks like you guys have had a blast so far this summer!
