Out of the mouths of babes.
Colin at dinner last weekend, "Mommy, I'm going to marry you."
Me: "Colin, I'm already married to Daddy."
Colin, pausing ever so slightly, "Well after Daddy gets dead, then I can wear the wedding ring."
At this point I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry. It's amazing how quickly his little mind solved the problem. Too bad it involved his father "getting dead."
Yesterday he was at a park with Buff where he fell and skinned his knee. At first he didn't think he'd be able to eat his lunch. A little while later I was talking to my mom on the phone and she was telling me about the accident and the missing lunch part. He heard her talking and suddenly he changed his tune to, "Well if my knee doesn't hurt after the first bite, then I'll keep eating." Good idea.
Deep thoughts by Colin at the dinner table last night.
Colin: "I watched brain surgery today."
Me, completely flabbergasted: "You did? Where?"
Colin: "E-see (Elise) and I saw it on the computer."
Buff: "You did? Was it a cartoon?"
Colin: "No, it was the real thing. They put screws in your head...and they have to cut your hair...but it doesn't hurt because you're asleep."
Me: "They have to cut your hair so it doesn't get in their way, right?"
Colin: "Yes. But they don't cut you all the way open."
Buff: "How do they put you to sleep?"
Colin, looking incredulously at her: "You just go to sleep!"
We're skipping school and going straight to college.
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
