Thankful Thursday

I find myself thinking about this post way before Thursday.  As I'm feeding Sawyer in the wee hours of the morning (5am!), my mind is free to think of whatever it wants.  And it chooses to think about this blog?  I need to get a life.  Really.  The problem is, most of the time I can't remember half of what I just transcribed in my head.  It sounds so good, I'm able to think of big words and everything.  Then life begins and just as quickly as the thoughts entered my brain, they've escaped.  Just like that.  Into thin air.  Oh brain, how I long for the days when I thought can enter and stay in my head for longer than 2.5 seconds.

To put an end to my bantering, I present this week's list.

1)  Green lights.  Isn't is awesome when you get to drive down a busy thoroughfare, hitting multiple green lights in a row?  I think it's awesome.  I think it's God's way of giving me a high five.  Don't knock my theory!

2)  Email.  In a day where most communication is electronic, I so appreciate when I get an actual substantive email.  I get upwards of 50-75 emails a day between my 2 accounts.  Of those, I'm lucky if 5 are from real people and actually contain contents I want to read!  Comments fall into this category too, just fyi (:

3)  Trader Joe's Quick-Cooking Steel Cut Oats.  I discovered these about a month ago on one of our monthly trips to TJ's in Cincinnati.  I love steel cut oats because they're less processed but I also enjoy the consistency.  These bad boys cook up in about 5 minutes in the microwave, shaving a good 15-20 minutes off traditional stove-top cooking.  Add a dollop of TJ's Almond Butter, a pinch of brown sugar, and a splash of almond milk and you've got one happy tummy!

  1. I do the same thing when I am cleaning or lying in bed...I get a whole post going in my head and when it comes time to type it out, it's dull. Booo...

  2. Danielle, as I was reading Cara's blog, I noticed your name, not knowing it was you...but I hoped so. Great blog, and I will visit again soon to catch up with your life. Beautiful family, BTW!

  3. Me to!!! Except I compose mine on my drive to and from work. It's better than thinking about all of the crazies I have dealt with that day. But then when I go to type it, nothing's there.

  5. i love steel cute oats too - i make up a week's batch at once and just slice a bit off each morning, warm it and mash it up with almond milk, a banana, a handful of sliced walnuts and a dash of cinnamon (in case you start looking for a bit of variety!) xoxo, -melanie-
