Your opinions please

Are you able to visualize things before actually seeing them?  I'm not.  I'm one of those people who have to see the finished product before I can tell you whether or not I'm going to like it.  There are exceptions but given the choice, I'd always choose the finished product/image over using my imagination.  As you can imagine, walking into a paint store is one of my worst nightmares.  Too many choices!

So I enlist the help of you, my lovely and much wiser readers.  I'm sure there are at least a handful of you who are good at visualizing the end result.  I've been waiting patiently but clearly Little Boy Blue's room is not going to be magically transformed by David Bromstad or Candice Olsen.  I've narrowed the field to a very light khaki or a very light blue.  The room gets LOTS of sunlight so I thought a lighter color would be best.  I want to keep it light and neutral because the cornice board fabric is pretty bold.  The bedding is a pale blue toile. There is a twin bed in there too that's going to stay and it will have the same darker KY blue that's in the curtains.

Here's the curtain fabric:

I tried to paste some of the samples I had from Benjamin Moore but I couldn't get them to cut and paste.  So what do you think?  Pale blue, light khaki, or a white?

  1. i always help my mom with paint colors and i say light khaki. i feel like there is too much blue or there would be too much blue considering there is blue as the background to that fabric. and light khaki makes it more visually pleasing as well, more relaxed and comforting! it will turn out amazing!!!

  2. I hate to be boring...but I think white would look best!! It will make the curtains and bedding pop and you will be able to do lots of fun things on the walls. :)

  3. I LOVE picking out paint colors! I think the blue would be too much since there is blue in both bedding colors. I would go with khaki. I think it will be a good neutral background.

  4. Khaki because it will be a bit more forgiving vis-a-vis stains and fading...and it is a little warmer color. you could do the baseboards and window sill(s)(?) in white. Blue is a pretty color, but it can be a little too cool.

  5. I vote light khaki too. I think that's always a safe color, and when little boy gets bigger, khaki walls are easy to transform baby room to big-boy room!

  6. I think khaki as well. I think it would look great, particularly if you paint the trim a bright, clean white.

  7. Ah ha! I'm going against the group - LIGHT BLUE!!! We painted Pierce's big boy room Light French Grey (by Behr) and it's absolutely beautiful. Every time I'm in there, I'm still excited about it. I don't know why it's called "grey" except maybe "French grey" is actually a blue? Or that it is a greyish blue.

His nursery was a yellowish cream and I was never so excited as to give him a REAL little boy room!

    :)

  8. PS - I have neutrals all through my house including a light khaki / cream in the living room and a dark khaki in our room and I would still go with light blue!! :)

  10. Thanks so much for the jewelry idea. I may actually do that with the dividers. Great idea!

For a color idea, have you considered a pale green? I have Ralph Lauren Sage Sweater on the walls in my younger daughter's room, and love it! It would look great with that fabric too! Good luck!
